WINTER HAVEN A man fleeing from a deputy after beating his girlfriend caused a four-vehicle crash Monday that claimed the lives of four people in eastern Polk County, Sheriff Grady Judd said. According to reports, just prior to the crash, a Hyundai sedan was traveling northbound on Kathleen Road. Two others also died, and three were flown to area hospitals. As Villar-Villalona continued driving, Judd said the car struck the back of a pickup truck, sending it spinning into the path of oncoming traffic while the suspect vehicle became airborne. Two people in the Escape also died, the driver, a 38-year-old man; and a passenger, a 73-year-old woman. He was treated and released. Polk County. Villar-Villalona was still driving at a high rate of speed several miles away when his 2019 Mazda CX-5 was captured on video headed west on Lake Hatchineha Road.
